τὰ πάντα … τὰ πρὸς ζωὴν καὶ εὐσέβειαν, “everything necessary for a godly life.” For the expression τὰ πρὸς, “what is necessary for.…,” cf. Judg 17:10 LXX (B: τὰ πρὸς ζωήν σου); Josephus, Ant. 1:6 (παιδευθέντες … τὰ πρὸς εὐσέβειαν); Luke 19:42; Acts 28:10. The author of 2 Peter is fond of pairs of words like ζωὴν καὶ εὐσέβειαν (literally “life and godliness”) and they are usually closely related in meaning.
